1. Lorde // This girl. So much cooler than I will ever be, and she's like 15.  I would love to be able to write music like she does. Oh, to have the resources to go see her at Coachella... maybe one day.

2. turquoise // Something about turquoise jewelry reminds summer and fun times. It also makes me feel cooler when I wear it - another plus.  I'm a huge fan of chunky rings anyway, so turquoise has been my go-to ring choice lately.  Here are some great ones on etsy: one, two three

3. thick strapped sandals // Definitely on my list for summer shopping.  Strappy sandals seem so much more grown up than flip flops.  My favorites are these from Moorea Seal:

How gorgeous, right?  Some other favorites are here and here.

4. retro swim suits // I love this style and I've been pinning it like crazy, but I can't quite decide whether or not they would look good on me... I guess I'll just have to order one and see! Modcloth has a bunch of cute ones.

5. my back porch // as the weather gets warmer, my back porch is quickly becoming my favorite place.  I'm so glad to have that space to read and soak up sun.

Apple Cider - This marks autumn to me.  I can drink pots of this stuff! The homemade is the best, of course, especially when it's got cinnamon sticks floating in it, and it makes the whole house smell fantastic.
Ahhhh. I can't wait to make some!

Leather Journals.  I am a journal hoarder.  It's a problem.  And when I buy a particularly pretty one, I'm anxious over what to write in it, because I don't want to waste silly words in a pretty journal.  I haven't bought one in a while, but I would really like to go back to journaling semi-regularly.  I'm obsessing over this one.

Doctor Sleep. This came out Tuesday and I am SO EXCITED to get it!  I'm a huge Stephen King fan and The Shining is one of my favorites (the book and the movie, even though the movie missed the mark so many times).  It'll be the perfect October read!

Kings of Leon's new album.  Caleb bought this the day it came out, and we've been listening nonstop since then!  It's a fantastic fall record.

Record Players.  We're planning on getting one as an early Christmas present to ourselves.  Any recommendations for albums that sounds particularly good on vinyl?

Fall Candles.  I love candles, and the scents out for fall are my favorites!  We're currently burning Pumpkin Cupcake and Apple Ale from Bath and Body Works.  I love BBW candles because the seasonal scents call all be burned together and complement each other wonderfully!

1. Coach Poppy. I am one of those people who swallows advertising whole. That's probably why I love perfume so much - perfume ads make it seem like once you find the right scent, you will instantly become sophisticated and unforgettable.
Still waiting on that, but I did find my signature scent, after 22 years of searching.  My lovely bridesmaids bought it for my wedding day, and I can't get enough.  Perfume shopping is hard because everyone's body chemistry reacts differently with perfume, but this smells really nice on me and stays all day.
get some here

2. Lemonade. Who doesn't love lemonade in the summer? Especially homemade - there's nothing better, I'll drink it til I bust.  I'm experimenting with making my own and adding flavors like apple and clove to bring it into fall - once I figure something out, I'll post my recipe!
for now, here's a recipe from giverecipe for fresh lemonade :)

3. Lana Del Rey. I had listened to some of Born to Die back when it first came out and I liked it alright, but I recently bought the whole album and have been listening to it nonstop.  It's so different from most other music that's out there today, and I love it.  Also Lana's look is perfect - I painted my nails red once my wedding manicure wore off because of a lyric in "Off to the Races", my favorite track on the album.  I used to not like red on me, but now I'm digging it.

4. Roller coasters.  Something about summer screams for roller coasters (no pun intended.) From Dollywood to the carnival we went to last weekend, the rush of riding a roller coaster is hard to beat.  When I was younger I was a huge fraidy cat and refused to ride them, but I have more than made up for it since then!

5. The Pure Trilogy. I picked this up on a BAM run because I needed something to read on the way to Florida, and I ended up liking it much more than I thought I would.  The second book, Fuse, comes out later this year, and I plan to pick it up as soon as it hits shelves.  If you like post-apocalyptic sci fi like The Passage or The Hunger Games, you'll love this series.

Lately I've been listening to slow, melodic things because I've been super stressed and need stuff that will help me relax. Here are a few of my favorite "unwinding" songs:
1. Blood Bank - Bon Iver
2. Medicine - Daughter
3. Poison and Wine - The Civil Wars
4. Take Heart - Hillsong
5. Let Go - Frou Frou
6. Crosses - Jose Gonzalez
7. Slow it Down - The Lumineers
8. Elephants - Rachel Yamagata
9. Breathe Me - Sia
10. Seaside - Wake Owl

lately...
1. Honey and Lemon Water - I usually drink tea in the mornings, but lately I've been having hot water with honey and lemon. It's yummy and helps fight off the cold symptoms that make this time of year sucky. Here's an article on the health benefits :)
2. Outlander - I'm rereading this book for the first time since high school and I forgot how much I love it! I can't put it down.
3. BB Cream - the one I'm using is form Maybelline, and it's really useful as a primer and making my mineral makeup stay put. I've used the Garnier one as well and I think I like Maybelline more, but I'd really like to try some legit Asian BB cream sometime.

4. High-waisted everything - The 90s high waisted shorts are coming back and I am ALL OVER IT. I have a thrifted pair and I plan on buying some once the summer clothes come out. I would really love some black high-waisted jeans and I have my sights set on this pair from ASOS.
5. Long Hair - my hair is FINALLY getting long, and I'm obsessed with making it wavy and beachy. Plus I feel like I've actually grown into my ombre and I finally feel like it looks right! I'm just on a hair high right now.
6. Shopping for my honeymoon - After I've actually done this I will definitely be making a post on it. Caleb and I are going to the beach and I am so excited! I've already made a ModCloth honeymoon wishlist and I can't wait to start buying things off of it!

1. Greek yogurt - a while back I posted about the clean diet that I'm starting... Well, starting today, because the left over birthday cake in the fridge proved to be my undoing. However, I've still been hitting the protein hard, and Greek yogurt has been my saving grace. It's thick enough so that I feel full and sweet enough that I don't go nuts. And it's a nice break from meat. Even a carnivorous lady such as myself can only enjoy chicken for so long.
2. Sula Tropical roll-on perfume - I went to Ulta last week and found this on sale. I have a great weakness for perfume, so I bought it, and boy, is it yummy! It's a little bit floral and a little bit vanilla and makes me forget how cold I am and how much I hate winter. Which brings me to...
3. Cardigans - I buy cardigans like other people buy socks. My current favorite is a gray cable knit open front one from Old Navy- warm and comfy. Also it goes over t-shirts and makes them fancy.
4. The Les Mis soundtrack - I have it and I am currently learning all the words and praying that someone around here decides to produce it so that I can be Fantine. Caleb loves it almost as much as I do, so we give mini-performances in the car.
